Who We Are

Methodism's Breadbasket is a non-profit organization founded in 1970; a mission of the North Texas Conference of United Methodist Churches. For almost four decades, the Breadbasket has been serving thousands of neighbors in need each year from our food pantry. In 2006, more than 128,000 pounds of food were collected and distributed to 3400 families, more than 6200 people, who live within its service areas and meet TEXCAP Income Eligibility Guidelines.

Hours of Operation are Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays, from 10 am to 12 Noon and 1:00pm to 2:30 pm. The Food Pantry is closed between 12 Noon and 1:00 pm on those three days. The Food Pantry is closed to clients on Wednesdays and Fridays.

Need Assistance?

To ensure our supplies reach neighbors in need, we are faithful to the following client requirements:

Requirements for those without a home:

  • Valid picture ID.
  • No-cook and pop-top food items will be reserved for you as available.
  • Food, clothing and other services are available to you once a month.

Requirements for those with a home:

  • Proof of residency within one of our serving areas. You must live in one of the following zip code areas in East Dallas - 75206, 75210, 75215, 75217, 75218, 75223, 75228 . Any of the following current bills or statements may be used as proof: rent, mortgage or property tax statement, gas, electric, water, cable television, or phone (not a cell phone) bill.
  • Showing a valid picture ID (Drivers License, Texas ID card, Offenders ID, etc.) each time you visit.
  • Providing valid documentation (Social Security cards, Birth Certificates , city, state or federal governmental agency documentation) verifying the existence of each household member for whom assistance is being requested.
  • Verification of household income, according to the TEXCAP Income Eligibility Guidelines.
After six visits, you will be asked for all the documentation above, to re-evaluate your situation.
